Mission and Vision

Go Foundation

Has been founded in September 2014. Founding Go was an answer to the increasing demand from youngsters who are interested in the concept of informal learning in a cultural divers European learningenviroment. This increasing demand can be explained by the lack of knowledge among youngsters in relation to de chances that are offered by European institutions throughout Europe. Go Foundation tries to fill this gap by showing, the youngsters in the northern part of the Netherlands, directly what the European possibilities are. This because the youngsters show motivation to take part in these initiatives. Go Foundation has the goal to bring Europe closer to the youngsters in the northern part of the Netherlands, through organising divers activities. To conclude, Go Foundation hopes that through activities the gap between youngsters and Europe will become smaller and that the youngsters will be stimulated to develop themselves.

Organisation

The Go foundation consists of six members, which are all experienced in international projects involving youth. Two of the members were the organizers in the youth exchange that took place in the autumn of 2012 (YES we can too!). Another two members were supporting staff of that exchange. All members of the organization have a history as a board member of a youth-house and three of them had a social work education among which one is the president of the youth work organization “Jongerenwerk Barkema & de Haan”. Thus, all members have a history in working with youngsters. Within the organizing group we have three social workers who have been educated to work with youngsters. The other members have substantial experience in working with young people and executing various projects among which organizing relatively small activities for the local community (eg. theme parties, children activities and fairs) but also larger projects (eg. voluntarily: the whole process of a renovation that costed over 300.000 euro’s but also internships and experience at global companies). In the program there are certain parts where we need skills that we do not posses, if needed we will hire an expert (from Jongerenwerk Barkema & De Haan) to fulfill this need. The foundation has the following members: Remco de Groot, chairman Gwen Birza, secretary Ania Renkema, finance Ronald de Haan, active member and youthworker Steven van der Veeke, active member
